Under section 8 of the Defamation Ordinance 2002, it is mandatory that in order to institute defamation proceedings, within two months of the publication of the defamatory matter coming to the notice or knowledge of the plaintiff, the plaintiff must serve fourteen days notice in writing of his/her intention to bring an action against the defendant, specifying the defamatory matter complained of. Thus defamation notices form the first legal remedy in case of defamation.

JA Legal can swiftly serve such notices to the defendant, and after the fourteen-day period, can then lead you forward through the instituting of defamation proceedings. `
