Shell Pakistan Limited (SPL) has, at long last, vacated our client’s premises, bringing a significant relief and victory to our client i.e. Monolight CNG Limited. To provide context, SPL had been operating a petrol station on our client’s land situated on Main Shahrah Faisal near PAF Base Faisal Karachi since 2003. However, from the year 2018, the relationship between the parties started to deteriorate in relation to certain commercial and legal issues.
In this crucial matter, Barrister Junaid Ahmed‘s firm, serving as the Founding Partner and Lead Counsel, along with Barrister Umair Umair’s firm, representing JA Legal as the Associate Partner, were enlisted to pursue the case legally on behalf of the landlord/Monolight CNG Pvt. Limited. In the Eviction & Rent Petition, the Rent Controller/Court passed an order directing SPL to pay the outstanding rent of around PKR. 20 Million within thirty (30) days, along with a monthly rent of around PKR. 0.6 Million.
Consequently, due to the diligent legal proceedings and court orders, the SPL was constrained and eventually reached an amicable settlement to vacate our client’s premises; and then filed a joint application before the High Court of Sindh at Karachi to materialise the momentous achievement on 16.11.2020. Finally, on 12.12.2020, JA Legal’s client regained peaceful possession of its land.
Now, another Oil Marketing Company, TAJ Gasoline, is poised to commence operations on the same premises, offering enhanced facilities starting in 2021. We extend our best wishes to them for their upcoming endeavors.
