Our law firm’s partner, Barrister Umair Usman, assisted by our firm’s associates Mr. Shahmeer Memon and Mr. Yahya Mazhar; filed a Constitutional Petition before the Honourable High Court of Sindh at Karachi. This petition highlights the issue of the illegal commercialization of the area actually reserved alongside the M-9 Motorway for the purposes of plantation and a green belt. It is pertinent to mention herein that some other similar petitions with interim orders in place are sub-judice, but the officials from National Highway Authority (NHA) and Frontier Works Organization (FWO) continue to engage in unlawful activities in relation to green belt.
The Honourable High Court has consolidated our firm’s petition with others pending petitions, and has ordered essential reports, including the ‘layout plan’ and ‘survey documents’, from both the NHA and the Land Utilization Department Board of Revenue concerning the green belt. The matter is currently scheduled for a hearing on November 20, 2023, alongside other cases. Ad-Interim Order- CP 5169-2023
